David V. Johnson
Developer of Bay Harbor, David V. Johnson, Chairman of Victor International Corporation, is an internationally recognized developer of world-class, luxury communities. His passion for nature and the outdoors has fueled his commitment to creating environments that are in ecological harmony with the land. As a result, he has received an impressive number of awards and accolades from organizations ranging from local to national and international, including:
- The prestigious Award of Excellence by the Urban Land Institute (2003)
- Environmentalist of the Year by Michigan Chamber of Commerce
- 2006 Developer of the Year by the Building Industry Association
- The GEM Visionary Award by Global Electric Motors (2003)
Johnson has significant involvement with the Urban Land Institute, as a member of the Recreational Development Council and as a former trustee. He also sits on the Board of Governors for the ULI Foundation and is a member of the ULI Detroit Steering Committee. Johnson’s memberships include the World Presidents’ Organization (WPO), Chief Executive Officers (CEO), the Detroit Presidents’ Organization (DPO) and the National Association of Realtors.
Philanthropy and a commitment to the communities where he works are important aspects of Johnson’s business philosophy. Examples of this philosophy include co-founding the Bay Harbor Foundation in Northern Michigan, The Victor Foundation (Michigan), and the North Sound Foundation (BVI). The Bay Harbor Foundation contributes to the advancement of educational, cultural, social and other charitable community endeavors of importance. In 1988, Johnson established The Victor Foundation, providing charitable contributions to foster programs for children, the physically challenged and young adults. Each of these organizations helps to support a youth, resident and non-profit organization within their local community footprints.
Johnson also supports many local and national organizations, including: The American Heart Association, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Child Help USA, North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy, The University of Michigan Cancer Foundation and Therapeutic Riding, Inc.
Johnson received his degree from Michigan State University and is an annual participant, group leader and graduate of the Presidents’ Program at Harvard Business School. Johnson and his wife, Pamela, enjoy boating and riding their Tennessee Walking Horses.
