As more and more uncover the secret paradise that is Bay Harbor, current residents have begun to reach out to their friends and family to encourage a move into this luxurious community. Heidi and Mike Geiger had discovered Bay Harbor through earlier vacations to the area but after moving here four years ago, they cannot imagine themselves anywhere else.
“We never dreamed we would be having this much fun with so many great new friends when we moved to Bay Harbor four years ago. We had already experienced Bay Harbor as boaters when we discovered the Bay Harbor Village Marina for our boating vacations. The aqua blue water, the sunsets on Little Traverse Bay, the amenities at the village marina and the marina downtown made it an easy pick for a relaxing boating vacation coming up from Cincinnati, Ohio. We also liked the easy access to restaurants, hotels, groceries and the miles of paved bike paths.
When we decided to move here full-time, we became members of the Bay Harbor Yacht Club – a great decision for making new friends, doing fun things and enjoying Michigan boating! We have our choice of slips between the two marinas in Bay Harbor Lake: the Village Marina or the Bay Harbor Yacht Club. Bay Harbor is the center hub, excellently located for catching world class boating events; the Mackinac Sailboat Races and Boyne Thunder to name a few. We have found the Bay Harbor location is ideal for fun boating day trips to Petoskey, Charlevoix, Boyne City or Harbor Springs. Additionally, this location is perfect for easy multiple night boating trips to Beaver or Mackinaw Island, Northport or Traverse City.
The Bay Harbor Yacht Club really should be renamed “Bay Harbor Fun Club”. We found the Yacht Club is an easy way to have fun, entertain and gather with great people…or just retreat and relax! The Bay Harbor Yacht Club offers three dining venues, a fitness center with steam room, hot tub and heated pool. The beach is fully outfitted with loungers, beach house restaurant and all manner of beach and water toys! One after boating, laying on the beach and dining, our guests said “Why would want to go anywhere else, this is the Fresh Water Caribbean of the north!”
The Yacht Club plans activities all year round with a focus on gathering members to relax and have fun. The people we have met are interesting and friendly, and the staff is courteous and generous with their time. We instantly felt like part of the Bay Harbor Family and try to” play it forward” when we meet new members.
We enjoy being part of a very active Bay Harbor Cruise Club that conducts 6-8 overnight boating cruises each summer. These events are well attended by 15 or more boats and “non- boaters” are welcomed to hop aboard. Last year we had over 100 members and 20 boats attend the Mackinac Island Cruise Trip. These cruises have helped to create a strong Bay Harbor boating family and have resulted in lasting friendships among our family.
We feel fortunate to have found Bay Harbor and become a part of the Bay family. It truly is an ideal community to live in and enjoy all that northern Michigan has to offer!”
